Ohhh no not sensory play! That’s the response I hear the most when I talk to other parents about doing sensory play. Yes, it’s an effort; it’s time consuming, sometimes fiddly and can make an absolute mess! Most parents don’t like the set up and clean up! But what if I told you that you could have the best of both worlds?! Your child could reap the benefits of sensory play, and you wouldn’t have to lift a finger!!!! Well, today is your lucky day! You’re invited to Rainbow Creative’s ‘Sensory Sessions’ for 6 months to 5 year olds! Come along and let your little one explore, discover and get messy with some sensory play!
What to expect?
Each week, a range of open-ended sensory activities will be set up based on a theme. Expect to get a little messy, make some new friends, and have a heck of a lot of fun and learning through play along the way! Imagine 10-12 ‘Invitation to Play’ like setups for your little one to explore at their own speed in a relaxed and supportive environment.
Our vision
Is to create a welcoming environment, where parents can bring their child to enjoy a full sensory experience, make some new friends, get messy, have a bit of fun and, of course, naturally learn through play! Our sessions will be based on Montessori concept with open-ended activity focusing on the process rather than a finished product. A relaxed learning environment where children are free to explore and discover and learn in their own way and in their own time! A group setting, a real community feel!
Who are we??
Rainbow Creative is a small family run business born and bred in the Woolgoolga area. We began making and selling ‘Sensory Boards’ for children, creating other sensory-based products like playdough kits and sensory bins, etc. Now we are offering sensory sessions! These sessions will be coordinated by myself, Laura and my friend Zoe - both of us are qualified primary school teachers and mums of young children. We both have a passion for sensory play (clearly), haha!
What time?
10:00 each Wednesday! We tried to select a time that would suit the majority of people’s nap schedules with the aim of tiring the kids out and taking them home to nap all arvo!! Goals! At this point we are only offering Wednesday but do hope this will grow and be offered 2-3 times per week on different days, perhaps in different locations too! Who knows?!
Where?
We will be set up and ready to go in the beautiful outdoor area behind The Community Hall in Woolgoolga. (aka Mudbrick Hall) And yes this area is fully fenced! Follow the footpath around to the left of the hall and it will lead to us!
Places are limited and bookings are essential via our the BOOK button above. Parents are required to stay for the entire session. There is weekly info about our sensory sessions on our instagram @rainbowcreativesensorysessions or call me on 0402 284 580
Why is sensory play important?
There are SO many benefits to sensory play I swear I could write a blog on it! As we know, children's developing brains crave sensory input! providing opportunities for children to actively use their senses as they explore their world through ‘sensory play’ is crucial to brain development.
Sensory play develops and increases:
Fine motor skills
Gross motor skills
Hand eye coordination
Language and communication skills
Confidence
Mindful & calming experience
Problem solving & scientific thinking
Cause and effect concept
Sort & categorise different materials
Encourages social and emotional regulation
The list goes on!!!!
A sensory session for you means no setup, no clean up for you, just a whole lot of fun and learning for the kids.
Cancellation Policy
As we have hire charges, cost of materials and lots of prep work before each session, tickets are non refundable for each session. However we are happy if you wish to send someone in your place! Just let us know.
If you have any further questions please just reach out! Email- rainbowcreative1@gmail.com
Clothes that you don't mind getting messy!
A plastic bag in case clothes get dirty or wet.
Spare clothes in case of the above.
Water & snack in case your little one is hungry.
Yes! This is a playgroup cross class like activity and 1 adult will be required to stay and supervise their own child. Just like you would stay at swimming lessons or gymnastics etc. Due to COVID we ask if only 1 parent attends to keep numbers down, even though we are outside, the space could become small if heavily populated.
We are aiming to target 6m-5 year olds at this point. There will be more challenging elements to the activities for the older ones compared to the bubs. Trust us, we are teachers and constantly cater for a range of abilities in a classroom, that's our job!
YES! This is exactly why we chose to target 6m-5yrs so mamas can bring the fam down (those not in school). 1 ticket per family is totally fine!
If it is raining, never fear! There is an undercover section outside we can set up under, we are just ideally choosing to be out in the fresh air! But will go ahead in wet weather unless we announce differently on Instagram- @rainbowcreativesensorysessions
If your child has an allergy please let us know before attending. We do not use any products containing nuts, soy, dairy or eggs in our set ups. However, from time to time we do use products that have the label "may contain traces of...." so best to let us know before booking.
